COOPERATIVE DESIGN S/S 10 AT LFW.
On over to Free Mason Hall for Vauxhall Fashion Scout present and Cooperative Designs installations. For the past for seasons we have been entranced by the bold and seemingly abstract arrangements of block colour and graphic elements being pursued by Cooperative. Always a strong mix of craft and retro modernity there is an ongoing reference to Russian Constructivism and Bauhaus. The look is part austere constructivist performer and 70s activist Bohemianfashionista , the jolt of modernity is provided by the boldness of the proportions, very short, and very long, with very big over very small and all this referenced in a multitude of knit techniques as well.
For S/S 10 Coopertive offered an slightly more earthy coloured palette of browns, black , whites, oranges and a warm blues. The signature striping was there as was the graphic motifs, but as was the trend this season in knit wear there was plenty of flesh( or mannequin and wood) on show with knit bikinis, mins , bra tops, cut away jumpers and knitted backless leg shields. To finish of the mix of complex yarns and weave there were highly polished chunky equally graphic accessories made in polished wood and plastic, and an incredible pair solid wedge shoes made in cut perspex. Everything together creates an intriguing combination of slight craziness and hand crafted genius, there is a quite confidence of a clear direction ahead. We will be watching out.
