THE VINTAGE 90S
Rarely does something that has just recently become old get a celebration of Selfridges proportions. SS caught up with the Selfridges Concept Store ‘90s revamp, joining forces with Beyond Retro and designer-laden Rellik to offer an insight into the era that hailed Kate Moss, Winona Rider and Patricia Arquette as fashion icons (yes, we’ve all been there). IDEA books catered for a good supply of reading and Lomography, there was a top ten dvd chart of the nineties, featuring everything from ‘Clueless’ to ‘Titanic’, next to the ‘Big Lebowski’ (possibly a bit too conceptual there?). All in all a posh-champagne-drenched soiree, which dragged out a soul or two from the Dalston blues, with Work It Djs spinning the tunes. Worth having a look at the selection of pieces from Rellik, some overpriced ‘vintage’ awaits in the boys Beyond Retro bit, but there isn’t the space to feature a pickled animal, just to round it up. Slightly on the sparse side, but do see the sunglasses section and the magazines! It will make you feel 16 again
