TIM RYAN A/W 10 FOR /-
Featured in our first issue of /- Tim Ryan always pleases us with his randomness of influences and directions within each collection. There has been a kitsch itch that Tim has been scratching for a long time and its nice to follow this instinctual journey to see what might come next. There has been 80s Russian singers, Travellers, Ibiza party girls, Violet Beauregard and for a/w 10 it was Siouxie Sioux/goths/70s/80s.
This season sees Tim push even further the concepts of misplacement and scale, the positioning and volume of tassels and trim all work off each other rather then with each other along with coloured stripes against detailed knit panels giving a slightly twisted messed up silhouette. Twisted and messed up is good, within fashion, it implies an energy that exist within the designs, it is a way of dressing and a way of being, a mix and match of elements that reflect many things but retain a clear identity . Tim’s skill is in combining the technical advancement in knit with a consistent sense of self and product, he is compelled to move forward and explore what can happen with the key elements. Knit is his expression of self and as we often say, he does it because he can.
