SHOW NOTES: CORRIE NEILSEN, LFW AW11.

High neck fitted blouse with soft draped ruffle collar. Black wool one shoulder drape skirt/dress. Dishevelled tightly curled plaited hair.
Last years Fashion Fringe winner Corrie Nielsen had her first solo show this season, a nice start to fashion week and a full house in attendance at the BFC tent, the stamp of approval obviously making a difference. A very well cut and tailored collection exploring and pushing drape, fit and silhouette with nods to all the masters of a couture twist and curved seam. Everything was sumptuous, exaggerated, rich or heavy occasionally relieved by touches of minimalism with a basic round neck or light grey wool suiting. All the indicators are of a designer with a clear ability and pleasure for her craft, but at times it was a little overkill with one trick after another, the collection swaying from exaggerated 30s suiting to full on Elizabethan voluminous collared dresses with cascading billowing drape. It is understandably tempting that you might want to fit it all in for a debut show and amongst the extra bits there were really interesting suggestions of examining new proportions and concepts. The heavily pleated waist that draped to the front were beautiful and the nipped and pulled silhouette of the twisted wool suiting will surely offer suggestions of more to come. As this show finished immediately you felt excited about what Corrie might do next.

As above, one shoulder black wool drape dress/skirt. Collar drape/accessory details, perhaps just a show piece but interesting shape.

On the left, black wool trouser nipped waist suit, curved seaming and exaggerated draped shoulder. On the right, mixed fabric suiting and split pattern seams, exaggerated shoulder and nipped waist.

Skirts eavily pleated at waist with soft drape to the front . Metallic mixed fiber blouse with extended neck/shoulder collar drape.Interesting shoe with what appeared to be a polished plastic soap shaped sole.

Finale, full on drape, pleated waist, pumped up draped and rushed collar that came around down to front waist and what appeared to be a billowing upper back.
