SHOW NOTES: JW ANDERSON, LFW, AW11.

Black wool trousers with front pleat and panelled knit jumper with belt.

The envy of many young designers, J W Anderson’s rise is causing quite a ripple each season.  Starting with menswear Jonathan Anderson’s earlier collections were much more of a theatrical play on “Fashion”  with big statement silhouettes, fabrications and gender questions. More recently the repertoire has been tempered by an obvious steeliness and savvy for industry, the man skirts and feminine tactility give an edge to an output that is increasingly recognising the power and approach of younger generations to dressing and trends. So  it makes sense to translate that fluid touch into womenswear and this season and what worked for the boys worked even more so for the girls.  Parka style coats with back pleated aprons,  contrasting panelled fitted jumpers with wool trousers, paisley mix and match outfits tipped with white latex and his now customary hiking book s this time with fur trim all very decisive, convincing and fresh. Hitting the nail on the head with a new audience and a new kind of sexuality of dress, a boyish uncluttered androgyny as seen at Simone Rocha.  There is a danger that his look is too hot, in a Top Shop get it right now way, but it might be the case  of who is chasing who, there is an easiness to what Anderson produces that suggest he has many options on where to push this.
