SHOW NOTES: KRYSTOF STROSYNA, LFW, AW11.
2007 CSM graduate Krystof Strosyna produced an interesting collection that took steps forward, in the right direction from his spring/summer show. There has been a prolific statement of split/spliced seaming and sharp shoulders, high waist and short skirt looks from many young designers for the past few seasons and this year was no exception. Slightly disappointing and limited in direction with everyone chasing the same hard sell. It does however for the most part indicate good cutting and production skills and when combined with drape and exaggerated asymmetry as in the case with Krystof you begin to see a whole new set of possibilities for splitting, dividing and constructing the silhoeutte. Key pieces where the inserted panels of loose drape and a shirt that extended beyond the waistline it was tucked into, echoing the drape panel of the skirt. Other key features were the coats with suspended folded front panels, the soft drape panelled dresses and the buttoned up neat collar shirts. There is a cleanness to Krystof’s work that when done well stands out, a new minimalist deconstruction of layering and tailoring that suggest plenty of options, even more curious to see where things develop from here.
