/- RUSSIA DNA- PROJECT 1: RUSSIA, SELF AND OTHERS. RESULT!
Slashstroke invited Russian artist Mani Vertigo to produce a live project in response to the /- DNA question. A series of experimental workshops in sound, animation, film making, animation and story telling all combined together to create a final work of fiction, a question on creative immigration. Over 1 day the public were invited to get involved in 4 workshops and the results of each combined to make a film and music score.
The finished film expressed the immediacy and lateral potential of creative collaboration alongside a melancholy restleness of a traveller. Mani Vertigo was leaving London and her time at Slashstroke due to UK visa restriction, having gained a degree here and contributing in a range of art and design projects she would be shortly back in Russia. The film was shown at the end of the day as a celebration, a farewell and the launch of DNA project.
Details on the workshop and activities can be found HERE
The workshops ran over one day and changed every 2 hours. Visitors took part in making a film, illustrations, animations and sound. The combined results are here.
